According to his wife who broke the sad news in a Facebook post, he passed away due to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, which he had for several years.

Steve Pool was a retired chief weather anchor who began covering sports for KOMO-TV in Seattle in 1977 and eventually became the principal weather anchor for that station from 1984 to 2019.

He announced his retirement from broadcasting in November 2019 after being treated successfully for prostate cancer.

He attended Tyee High School in SeaTac, Washington where he served as the student body president. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Washington, where he graduated in 1978.

He was a family man who was married with kids at the time of his death. He was married to Michelle and they had two daughters, Lindsey and Marissa.
